The Enchanted Forest

Points of Interest

The water is definitely one of our favorite things about Florida but there is so much to explore inland as well! The Enchanted Forest Sanctuary is one place that we have visited that I wouldn’t mind visiting a few more times before we leave the area.

From their website: “Located in the southern limits of the City of Titusville, the Enchanted Forest Sanctuary preserves a diversity of natural habitats. Several miles of hiking trails allow visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of the region. Wildlife observation, nature photography, and hiking are popular recreational activities. A wonderful wealth of plant life also abounds as both temperate (northern) and subtropical (southern) species grow in the Sanctuary together. The Management & Education Center interprets the Sanctuary’s unique natural features for visitors of all ages and abilities.”

One of the downsides to this sanctuary is that no pets are allowed. But Doug and I still enjoyed walking the trails when it is just the two of us. Maizey and Crew stayed on the boat and soaked up the AC. Most of the trails are very well shaded so even though we were out in the middle of the afternoon, we didn’t die suffer too badly in the heat and humidity. If you follow the signs correctly, you can walk/jog/run an entire 5K in the sanctuary. We apparently did not follow the signs correctly and ended just short of 3 miles.

I’m still trying to get better at taking more pictures. But I did get a pic of this cute little guy we saw along our way. The wild pigs were too fast to get a picture of!
